Move over Thronos, there’s a new Razer mega chair in town

Last year, I was both awed and terrified by the massive Acer Thronos gaming chair. It was a huge, mechanical monstrosity with three screens attached to an LED-encrusted metal arm that swooped down over your head, and you knew the moment you’d locked its fold-out keyboard tray into place that it was going to eat you alive and never let you leave. Thankfully, Razer’s new Eracing Simulator Concept chair setup is a little less terrifying on that front, mostly because it looks like you’re free to leave at any given…

I’m worried that MSI’s new HMI gaming monitor is going to kill me in my sleep

There have been plenty of new monitor announcements over the course of this week’s CES tech jamboree, but none have been more terrifying than MSI’s Optix MEG381CQR. This curved 38in ultrawide display is one of several new gaming screens coming from MSI this year, but it will be the first to incorporate Human Machine Interface elements, or HMI for short. HP Omen’s ear-cooling gaming headset returns as the even more brilliantly named Mindframe Prime

By far one of the best hardware announcements to come out of last year’s Gamescom was HP’s ear-cooling Omen Mindframe headset. The name was just pure, unbridled brilliance, and its chilly, sweat-blasting thermoelectric ear cups were novel and worked surprisingly well in practice, even if its suspension-style headband didn’t quite hold up comfort-wise once I got one in for review. Now, the Mindframe is back for a second generation. Enter the HP Omen Mindframe Prime, the new king of gaming headset naming conventions and our latest contender for the best…

I Love Mad Catz’s Bizarre Gaming Mice

Look at this piece of gaming hardware, all panels and buttons and weird pokey bits. This is the Mad Catz R.A.T. 8+ 1,000, a limited edition mouse celebrating the company’s 30 year anniversary. It’s emblematic of the odd but oddly-satisfying design choices made by one of the biggest names in computer peripherals. I… Read more… Read more: kotaku.com

Valkyrie Industries is building a haptic VR suit for industrial training

Valkyrie Industries off-handedly refers to the current iteration of its VR suit as “Iron Man v. 1.” It’s a fitting reference. There’s a very “first half of the superhero film” vibe to the prototype. There are exposed wires everywhere and large, clunky 3D printed pieces that clip onto various body parts. In a more finalized version, it will probably look like something more akin to a wetsuit. For now, however, the wearable haptic product looks like a bit of steampunk cosplay. We met with the London-based team at the Brinc…
